Texas Aggies helping refugees

Lorraine Green received some good news Wednesday afternoon as she returned to her bunk at Texas A&M's Reed Arena after a shopping trip to Wal-Mart.

After being separated from her husband nearly a week ago, the Hurricane Katrina evacuee learned that she would be reunited with him later in the evening or early today.

"Thank God," said Green, smiling.

An Aggie alumnus had located Winston Green, along with the couple's son and his fiancée, at a shelter in San Antonio, and planned to drive to College Station on Wednesday afternoon to pick up Lorraine Green, her daughter, her son-in-law and granddaughter to take them there.

The Greens' good fortune is not an isolated event at the university shelter, where as many as 208 evacuees from the New Orleans area arrived over the weekend.

Lionel Bellvie, with the help of Aggie volunteers, located his wife. She's safe in a hospital in Birmingham, Ala.

Nice story. There is much more.
