Evacuation traffic bumper to bumper in Brenham 70 miles northwest of Houston
I just returned from Brenham and the traffic on 290 coming out of Houston was incredible. Also the traffic on Texas 36 in a northerly direction from Bellville was backed up for a mile where it intersects with 290.
The building supply stores were selling plywood and OSB at a rapid rate. Seven-sixteenths OSB (oriented strand board) was selling for $15+ a sheet.
If we did not have a satelite view of the storm, the traffic and the sheet goods sales would be the only indicator that a major storm is in the Gulf and headed this way.
