After Rita
We got only a few drops of rain, but not enough to settle the dust kicked up by the unusually hot north wind.
We did make a trip into Brenham today to fillup the tank on the pickup as well as a five gallon gas can. There were still a lot of lines for gas. I got my fillup at the Walmart which had only regular gas. The Super Walmart, itself was not open, but HEB and Blockbuster were extremely busy.
The only storm damage we saw going to town and back were a lot of leaves that had blown down and a few small limbs. There was nothing that would require a chain saw for removal.
Traffic seemed normal until we got into town and we had to set through several changes at the light at 290. The city had blocked the right lane on business 36 in order to favor cars exiting off of 290 on 36 south.
I started taking the plywood sheeting down. Just one fun job after another. So far it has not been hassle enough to make someone want to shoot at rescue helicopters.
Bottom line from here is that Rita was a lot of hot air.
